A weekly event involving police officers and schoolchildren in Northampton known as "High Five Friday" is being stopped.
Officers have been going to the city's four elementary schools and welcoming children to school for the last couple of months.
However, parents voiced concern to the city's police chief at a recent committee meeting about how a regular police presence could be negatively interpreted by children who are minorities, undocumented or who have had negative interactions with police.
