Casino Bill Moves To General Assembly

The Connecticut Legislature's Public Safety Committee is advancing a bill that would allow a tribal casino in East Windsor.

The bill would allow the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes to open a casino at the former Showcase Cinemas site off I-91.

The tribes hope the casino will stop state gamblers from going to an MGM Resorts casino under construction in Springfield.

The committee also approved a bill that would open up the casino process to non-tribal operators.
