Sanctuary Cities On Trial

Boston mayor Marty Walsh and others are reacting to comments made by U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Monday regarding sanctuary cities.

Sessions threatened to strip federal funding from municipalities that harbor undocumented immigrants by refusing to help federal immigration agents, echoing an executive order from President Trump in January.

Walsh issued a statement saying the threats to cut the funding are "irresponsible and destructive", while Somerville mayor Joe Curtaone vowed to fight any cuts to funding.

Boston, Somerville, and Cambridge are among the cities in the state that have been singled out by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement for their lax approach to illegal immigrants.
