Senator Ed Markey is introducing legislation to address the issue of gun violence.
The bill would set aside ten-million-dollars annually over five years for federal research on firearms safety or gun violence programs.
Markey says gun violence is shattering lives and now more than ever there's a need for research into the causes and what can be done to prevent it.
