UMass and Baystate Medical Team Up

Baystate Health and UMass Medical School are looking for about three-and-a-half-million-dollars from the state to build a new medical school in Springfield.

Debate on a House amendment to add the money, sponsored by state Representative Michael Finn, is scheduled for next week.

Finn says the investment makes sense, considering Baystate serves a large population of Medicaid patients.  The school is expected to open in 2016.
