The Hernandez Case- The Latest

Attorneys for Aaron Hernandez are  trying to have his conviction for killing Odin Lloyd thrown out now that  he has died.

The lawyers say state law requires convictions to be  thrown out if the person dies before appeals are exhausted.  Hernandez  took his own life in his cell at a state prison in Shirley last week.

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn plans to challenge the  request.

Meantime, later today, the attorneys for an inmate who reportedly will receive one of the letters written by Hernandez before he died will meet with reporters later today in Worcester.

And Jose Baez who is representing the Hernandez Estate says that reports that somehow the former New England Patriot star had a gay boyfriend is false and designed to dampen the reputation of the deceased.
