Grand Jury Passes On Murder Indictment

Three brothers accused of beating a  Springfield man who later died are not being indicted for murder.

Joseph and Roberto Rivera of Holyoke as well as Edwin  River of Mars Hill, North Carolina, denied charges of assault and  battery with serious injury and unarmed robbery in Hampden Superior  Court on Monday.

It appeared the trio would face murder charges at one  point in connection to the death of Adam Rei, who died several days  after being found unconscious on High Street in Holyoke in February.

The death had been classified as a homicide by District Attorney Anthony  Gulluni.
