Larceny charges are being formally dropped against a retired Springfield police officer who was found dead of an apparent suicide on Monday.
Sixty-eight-year-old Kevin Burnham was scheduled to appear in Hampden Superior Court for a plea deal.
He was accused of stealing almost 400-thousand dollars from the Springfield Police Department evidence locker.
An attorney for the Springfield Retirement Board says action could still be taken against Burnham's pension, since he was charged with a crime.
