A rattlesnake isn't a normal part of life in downtown Springfield, but one had to be removed from that area on Saturday.
The timber rattlesnake was found on the front stoop of a residential building on William Street.
It's not clear where the snake came from, but Massachusetts Environmental Police released it on Mount Tom after local animal control officers were able to capture it.
