CT Governor Makes Final Budget Address

Governor Dan Malloy is calling on the  legislature to use common sense and fairness as they get to work this  session.

Malloy is leaving office at the end of the year and delivered  his final State of the State address to lawmakers yesterday.

The  governor says Connecticut fairness means fighting discrimination,  raising the minimum wage and helping people in need.

Malloy says  history will judge him and state lawmakers by their actions this year as  they work to build a fairer Connecticut.

Democrats by and large liked what they heard.

But, Republicans say the Governor spent far too much time talking about social issues and spending money rather than addressing the severe budget issues that the state faces.
