Public health officials are confirming the first flu related death of a child this season in Massachusetts.
The Department of Public Health is only confirming that the child was under the age of ten and lived in Essex County.
However, the Boston Globe says the child who passed away was a six-year-old girl from Haverhill.
Health officials say the child's infection with the flu was confirmed by symptoms and clinical tests.
