People Upbeat On Springfield Future

More than half of Springfield  residents say they expect the city's economy to improve over the next  five years, according to a new Western New England University poll.

The  survey, conducted last month, found that nearly 60 percent expect the  city's economy to be much better or somewhat better five years from now.

The strongest source of optimism comes from supporters of the downtown  casino scheduled to open in August, according to WNEU.
