Casino Boss: Plan To Combat Underaged Betting

MGM Springfield is dealing with an  apparent underage gambling issue.   And, it comes about because of the popularity of the venue.

Casino president Mike Mathis told the  Massachusetts Gaming Commission yesterday that changes have been  implemented to deal with the problem, including a formal ban of minors  on gaming floors.

Gaming commission officials blame the underage issue  partly on the fact that the entertainment facility has much more than  just gambling.

Mathis told regulators yesterday that MGM has attracted  nearly 25-thousand visitors daily on weekdays and 50-thousand on  weekends since it opened last month.
