The Springfield Police Department says the officer involved in an incident at Kiley Middle School last month is being suspended.
Acting Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood suspended Lawrence Pietrucci for five days without pay on Thursday for violating department rules and regulations.
Police are still investigating so they aren't speaking in detail with reporters.
But it is believed that the officer grabbed the student in some way during an incident last week at the Kiley Middle School.
The Mayor says that such incidents can not be tolerated .
