Air Force Helps Westfield With Million Dollars For Water

The Westfield City Council on Thursday accepted a water contamination payment from the Air Force.

The one-point-three-million dollars will go towards the cost of removing contaminants traced to Barnes Air National Guard Base.

City officials noted during yesterday's council meeting that this was the first time the Air Force has taken responsibility for the contamination that apparently came from firefighting foam in training exercises at the base.
