Body Cam Debate-and Facial Recognition Software Hits Springfield

Springfield City Councilors have already allowed a plan for body cameras to be used by Springfield Police.

But they now are also trying to figure out what do do about Facial Recognition software.

Councilors last night met to map out a game plan.

The Mayor supports the idea which says will be used by police to get a handle on the criminal element.

However, Springfield City Councilor Orlando Ramos says that he has privacy concerns.

The Mayor has promised to veto any city council effort to ban the technology.

Councilors could vote on the issue next week.
