Springfield Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood says she's thankful for the support of the men and women of the police department.
She was formally sworn in Tuesday.
Clapprood was named acting commissioner in February and appointed to the job by Mayor Domenic Sarno last month.
She's a 40 year veteran of the Springfield department and is the city's second female Top Cop.
The first was Paula Meara back in 1996..
