Sale Won't Need Surgery But Still Questionable For The Start Of Season

The Athletic is reporting that Red Sox ace Chris Sale is not

expected to need Tommy John surgery for his ailing left elbow. Sale

complained of elbow soreness after he threw 15 pitches Sunday in a

live batting practice session and underwent an MRI on Monday. Sale is a

seven-time All-Star and is still likely to begin the season on the

injured list after dealing with pneumonia at the start of spring

training. Sale missed the final 1 1/2 months of last season with

elbow inflammation and finished with 25 starts, his fewest since

2011.
