Governor Asks Trump For Disaster Declaration

Governor Ned Lamont is calling on President Trump to issue a major disaster declaration because of the growing COVID-19 pandemic.

So far the coronavirus has infected at least 875 people in Connecticut, and claimed the lives of 19 residents.

Lamont today said he has submitted his request to FEMA, asking that all Connecticut counties be included in the declaration.

If the president grants the governor's request, Connecticut residents could get federal help with things like childcare, crisis counseling and funeral assistance
