The Cyr Arena ice rink in Forest Park in Springfield is closed after a potential coronavirus exposure.
The city also announced yesterday that high school athletics are being suspended for two weeks after a student tested positive, but that is unrelated to the arena shutdown.
Officials say the Cyr arena situation involves a hockey team, and the city is doing contact tracing.
The rink will be deep-cleaned.The City of Springfield continues to stress the importance for all residents to practice healthy hygiene and to follow and adhere to all public health and safety protocols and measures.
This action is taken out of an abundance of caution to help mitigate the community spread of the Coronavirus as the City of Springfield is listed as a “Red” / High-Risk community.
