City Council Prepares For Possible Change

We have not heard one way or the other from Springfield officials on what they are going to do with the city council.

Two current city councilors have won elections to the state legislature.

One Orlando Ramos to the State House, replacing the retiring Jose Tosado and the other City Councilor Adam Gomez.

Gomez is the son of longtime community activist and war veteran Gumercindo Gomez.

Gomez becomes the first elected Latino to the state legislature.

Both men could conceivably keep the city council seats but most observers think that is not very likely.

It would be the Springfield City Council that will have to decide who gets the seats this time out.

There is not likely to be any process set until both men decide what their status before the governing body would be.
