Baker: We Need More Vaccines To Meet State Needs

Governor Baker says the state is in need of more vaccines in order to adequately deal with the pandemic in this state.

The Governor toured the Mass Vaccination site at the Eastfield Mall which saw people standing out in the bitter cold while waiting their turn in line.

Officials say they have made the necessary changes to the system and people are allowed to wait indoors. The Governor called out a ten member unit of the National Guard to lend assistance.

Meantime Governor Baker says the state is not seeing the kind of vaccine numbers needed to take care of the state and he is not inclined to bring in more people into the already overworked system at this point.

In any given week, the governor told reporters the state gets about 106 thousand doses of the vaccine. And, that number is only slightly more than what had been coming out of the fed in the last administration.

The Governor says that he makes the plea for more vaccines each week while on conference calls with the fed. But so far there has been no real change in the numbers.
