Elsa To Offer Glancing Blow And Heavy Rains For Western Mass

A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for all of Western Massachusetts due to the crossover of Tropical Storm Elsa today.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Elsa are expected to have some impacts on Massachusetts today. The strong winds from the storm will stay to the east and could affect Cape Cod and southeastern Massachusetts. The good news is that the storm should pass through the area quickly, and it should be gone during the afternoon.

The National Weather Service says the Pioneer Valley could receive six inches of rain. Forecasters say Elsa will move on from Western Mass by this afternoon.

Eversource and National Grid have pre-positioned crews across the region just in case repairs need to be done. Eversource bringing in 200 crews from out of town, mostly Canada to add to its forces.

Most of the wind and the rain should be out of the area by late this afternoon.
