Smith And Wesson Leaving Springfield

In a stunning announcement, Smith and Wesson - the iconic gun maker based in Springfield announces that it is leaving the city and moving its headquarters to Tennessee. The company announcing that it was moving its operation to Maryville, Tennessee in 2023.

Company officials say it was an emotional and difficult decision to make. But officials say that for the financial future of the company the decision had to be made.

Among the issues that the company sited was the proposed legislation that would have prevented the company from manufacturing its products. Officials say that the firearms are legal in the US and that law abiding people are able to buy and own guns under the Second Amendment. But that would be circumvented by the proposed Massachusetts law,

Firearms make up about 60 percent of the Massachusetts company’s revenue.
