Investigation Takes Down Hartford To Springfield Drug Operation

The Hampden County D-A says a joint effort involving Connecticut and Massachusetts police has taken down an apparent drug and gun operation that involved 16 firearms and more than 15 thousand packs of heroin and another kilo of fentanyl.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni stated, “This inter agency, multi-state effort has a significant regional impact on public safety across two states. Law enforcement worked together across agency and state lines to interrupt a significant network of drug and gun distribution. I thank the investigators and agencies involved in this complicated investigation who worked collaboratively with each other to do their jobs and make their communities safer.”

Police getting information that 28 year old Springfield man went to Hartford and brought back the guns and drugs. After his arrest, police executed search warrants for a West Springfield address and arrested two other people. Saldana is being held on 250 thousand dollars cash bail. A 34 year old man - Jose Rios is being held without the right to bail on a variety of charges. Alexander Rivera is being held on 50 thousand dollars bail. All will be in court next month for another hearing.

Additional charges could come out of Connecticut.
