The cause of an early morning two-alarm fire in Springfield is being investigated. Two people were rescued from a third-floor apartment on Belmont Avenue overnight. One person was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A second person was treated at the scene. Fire officials say one possible cause of the blaze is improper disposal of smoking materials.
