TBirds Get Outstanding Goaltending To Take Calder Cup Series Lead

The Springfield Thunderbirds have won their first-ever American Hockey League playoff game.

The T-Birds beat the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in Game One of their second-round series on Wednesday.

The final score from the MassMutual Center was four-to-one.

The TBirds got off to a 1-0 lead midway through the first period with a goal from Will Bitten.

The Pens Felix Robert tied the game at 1 midway through the second period before Klim Konstin got the eventual game winner in the second period.

The story of the game however was goaltender. TBirds net minder Charlie Lingren made 50 saves.
