Holyoke City Councilor Facing Rhode Island Charges

A Holyoke City Council member is in legal trouble. Wilmer Puello-Mota was charged in Rhode Island with possession of child pornography in 2021.

Now, he is also being accused of forging the signature of his supervisor at the Massachusetts Air National Guard.

Puello-Mota, in an effort to keep his job, was told he needed proof that the Guard supported his continued service. He is currently behind bars.

The issue was brought up at a Holyoke City Council meeting on Tuesday night.

Council president Todd McGee yielded to the ongoing investigation, and said there is no action for the city to take at this time.

Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia says he will allow the legal progression of the case to move forward before commenting.

The councilor is expected in a Westfield Courtroom next week.
