The state Senate is expected to consider a proposal this week to change the rules for getting a license to carry firearms in Massachusetts.
The House proposed the changes to toughen the process after the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that expands gun rights nationally.
Supporters describe the proposed changes as "commonsense."
Opponents say gun rights advocates were not consulted.
