Flooding To Force Farmers To Plow Crops Under

In North Brookfield-- trees were uprooted but there were no injuries reported after an EF Zero Tornado went through parts of town. Three minutes is all it lasted with winds of 80 miles per hour.

Meantime, State Senator Jo Comerford is urging the state and federal governments to assist area farmers devastated by winds and rains that have lasted a week. The Senator says over the span of 75 farms ---and 2 thousand acres of crops have been destroyed.

Farmers remind us that just because the land will dry up-- doesn't mean the problem is over.

They say the crops will have to be plowed under- since all of them will be contaminated from the root system up to the ground.

The farmers are calling on the President to declare the area a federal disaster area which would free up valuable resources.

So far there has been no response yet from the White House.
