Electric Car Self Ignites In Owner's Driveway

An electric vehicle burned for around three hours after it apparently burst into flames in Wareham.

The electric car was parked outside a mobile home unit at Great Hill Estates early Saturday morning when the fire started.

Crews put the fire out, but it restarted a short time later and required more than ten thousand gallons of water to put it out for good.

Wareham Fire Chief John Kelley says it appears the fire began spontaneously, and if it had been in a garage the results could have been much worse.
