Antisemitic materials were reportedly left outside people's houses in West Brookfield on Tuesday.
The town police department notified the Anti-Defamation League, which says the literature was likely distributed by a neo-Nazi extremist group.
West Brookfield Police Chief Nathan Hagglund says this is the first time he's aware of an incident like this happening in the town.
Meantime the state has seen a dramatic increase in such activity. The latest figures show more than 150 separate incidents, an increase of 41 percent.
