There has been at least one more murder in the city of Springfield. Details are still quite sketchy but police were called to a Berkshire Avenue address where they found multiple victims, including children, the victim of gunshot wounds.
Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni says one of the deaths was a murder. He would not characterize the other death. He did say that the investigation is just getting started now. but there was no threat to the public.
The DA says that the shooter is believed to be one of the dead. Gulluni says the latest violence in the city was a situation that would be impossible to predict.
There has been no update on the conditions of those that were taken to the hospital- nor their ages. That information could come tonight or tomorrow morning.
The newest deadly violence came a mere couple of hours after the Springfield Mayor met with reporters detailing meetings with a coalition of public safety officials, ranging from the Department of Justice, State and Local Police among others. The city will also convene a mayoral task force designed to find ways to tamp down violence in the city.
With the latest confirmed homicide, there are 23 murders this year in Springfield.
