Amherst Regional Schools Seeking New School Boss

More change is coming to a Western Massachusetts School District.

Over the weekend, Michael Morris announced that he was resigning at the end of the month.

And, although he does not say why, the School Committee in a joint statement says Morris has done nothing wrong.

Morris is just back from a medical leave he took because of the stress he was feeling in the aftermath of investigations about the way transgendered students were being treated. Morris said that he was proud of his 20 years with the system.

Some school committee members said Morris fell victim to the school union which voted no confidence in the school boss.

Morris will stay until the end of the month.

The school committee is expected to meet later this week to determine how best to proceed.
