Senator Says Vets Need Bigger Voice On Issues

State Senator John Velis says he will support a measure authored by Congressman Seth Moulton that would give veterans more of a voice on issues during the political convention season.

The Senator says too many times the voices of veterans are left out.

He wants to see them declared a “marginalized community” which will allow them to be “add-on” delegates at conventions.

The measure will be voted on by the conventions in September in Lowell. But there is some opposition from Senator Barbara Rausch who says it would reduce diversity among delegates because they are whiter and older than most conventioneers.
