Former Marine Indicted On Charges He Stole V-A Monies

A former U.S. Marine is being federally indicted in Springfield court.

The Justice Department says Paul Herbert of Shelburne Falls is charged with theft of government money and making false statements.

Herbert allegedly stole over 300-thousand dollars in veteran disability benefits through the V.A. and submitted a false Purple Heart application.

U.S. Attorney Joshua Levy called the actions an insult to the honorable service members who have made sacrifices for our safety.
