Rintala Gets Prison Time For Killing Wife

Cara Rintala has been sentenced to 12-to-14 years in prison for the death of her wife.

Annamarie Cochrane was found dead in the couple's Granby home in 2010.

Rintala was convicted of a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter earlier this month in what started as the fourth murder trial against her.

In the third trial, Rintala was sentenced to life for first-degree murder, but it was tossed by the Massachusetts Supreme Court which cited improper use of expert witness testimony.

Members of the victim's family read impact statements in Hampshire Superior Court on Thursday pushing for the maximum sentence, while Rintala's daughter asked for her to be immediately released.
