Students Walkout At UMass Over Mid East Conflict

Students at UMass Amherst walked out of class Wednesday.

The walkout and a related sit-in at the Whitmore Administration building come in response to the university's ties to weapons manufacturers such as Raytheon. Leaders of UMass Students for Justice in Palestine called on the school to cut ties and partnerships with firms such as Raytheon and invest in sustainable and demilitarized interests.

They further demanded the school condemn the killing of Palestinian civilians by Israeli troops and the blockade of Gaza.

Students say they are prepared to stay in the building until their demands are met.
