Million Dollar Plan For Safe Streets In Holyoke

Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia presented a new comprehensive plan for public safety.

The mayor says "Ezekiel's Plan/Operation Safe Streets," emphasizes compassion and social justice with the obligation to provide for citizen safety and well-being.

The plan calls for a million-dollar investment in police enforcement and expansion, along with neighborhood oversight and outreach to the homeless community.

Under the plan 13 new cops would be hired.

The plan will go before the City Council next month.

The plan is named after an unborn child who died in a shooting on October 4th.
