Pickleball Not Popular In Parts Of Amherst

Amherst residents have made clear their opposition to the proposed pickleball courts at Kiwanis Park.

The residents, who live in a neighborhood close to the park say they were not consulted in advance on the plan.

They have also expressed concern about noise, traffic, and parking issues, and what the courts may do to property values.

The Community Preservation Act Committee has requested 100-thousand-dollars, atop the 120-thousand already appropriated for the courts.

The three courts were initially planned for a North Amherst site, but the Department of Public Works found Kiwanis Park the best option.

Officials say no decision has been made on the site.
