Former Mall Businesses Get New Home, State Help

Former businesses in Springfield impacted by a mall closure are finding new homes.

The Eastfield Mall shutdown left many businesses scrambling for a new location.

Now, 13 businesses will receive funding through the Fiscal Year 2024 budget.

State Representative Orlando Ramos says he was able to secure 50-thousand dollars, which will be distributed to them.

Ramos says it was important to help the small businesses remain in the city.

As for the former mall, it will be renovated into a new shopping complex, hopefully by the summer of 2025.
