City Councilor Wants Second Look At ARPA Spending

Springfield leaders and advocates are calling on addition funding for the American Rescue Plan Act.

The City Councilor at Large Trayce Whitfield is asking for an additional 11-point-five million dollars to help residents who were disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. In a Thursday night meeting,

Whitfield said 12-thousand applicants were approved to receive ARPA funds however, more than 86 hundred were paid and eight thousand were denied.

Whitfield expressed that she wants Mayor Domenic Sarno to look into other ARPA program funds that haven't been spent or omitted to see if it can be transferred to denied applicants.

So far there has been no response from the Springfield Mayor.
