A Wilbraham police officer is recovering from wounds suffered during an incident Saturday night.
The incident began at a home on Old Carriage Drive at around 8:40 pm, when police exchanged gunfire with a suspect, who was also wounded.
State police were called and in-crisis negotiators established contact with the suspect, identified as 53-year-old Michael Ortega.
Members of the Special Tactical Operations Team rescued two others inside the home before making the arrest.
Both Ortega and the officer, who has only been identified as a 29-year-old male have been hospitalized.
The investigation is ongoing.
