Former Red Sox President Larry Lucchino has died at the age of 78.

He's credited with helping Boston win three World Series titles during his 14 year tenure which ended after the 2015 season.

He also spearheaded the construction of Polar Park and the move of Boston's Triple A affiliate to Worcester from its longtime home in Pawtucket.

At the time of his death Lucchino was chairman of the WooSox.

Prior to coming to the Red Sox organization, Luchino was responsible for the San Diego Padres having Petco Park as its new home 20 years ago.

He was also an important part of the Baltimore Orioles as well.
